Hama Sushi is a classy yet casual Japanese restaurant with quality sushi & shashimi as well as many other entrees including teriyaki, tempura, noodle dishes, and specialty dishes such as broiled eel and marinated beef ribs. They also have an interesting appetizer, soup and salad selection. A kids menu is avaibable for ages 10 and under. The restaurant has traditional Japanese decor including a "tatami room" in the back where guests sit on the floor. There is no buffet or hibachi grill. Lunch prices range from $8 to $15 and dinner entrees are $12 to $25. Wine and beer available.

Nice place, nice service, bad food! We decided to eat Japanese because everyone had a stomachache....bad idea!The food didn't taste fresh nor good!

Tried this restaurant out for lunch. I've been to many, many japanese restaurants in and outside of this area, and have been eating sushi for a long time. The restaurant has nice decor and seems inviting, but I didn't find the fish fresh at all. I ordered a sashimi lunch, and the portions were very small. Entree came with soup and salad, which was decent, along with a bowl of rice. In addition, I ordered more from the ala carte and daily special menu. Again, the fish was a bit mushy and limp, which means it wasn't fresh, and it was not expertly cut. There was not much taste to the fish at all. I didn't order any rolls, but sitting at the bar, the rolls looked good. Service was attentive though, but probably because there were few customers at that time. There may have been a problem with ventilation in the dining area when I was there because the dining room smelled like deep fry oil. Got sticker shock at the end because the daily specials did not have prices listed. Not in a rush to go back.

Atmosphere is good, sushi is okay, but service is horrible. The wait staff is slow both at lunch and dinner. The person doing check out spoke little and took three tries to ring up my bill! I will never return here.
